| 2023-09-30 | Research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of foreign residents | As of the end of June 2021, 6 foreign residents (6,072 men and 2,985 women) live in Toyonaka City. Toyonaka City and the Toyonaka International Association conducted a survey (July to December 3,087) to understand the impact and challenges of the COVID-2021 pandemic on the lives of foreign residents and to further promote future support for foreign residents and community development for multicultural coexistence. The results of the questionnaire survey, interview survey, summary of survey results, and reference materials are posted. Many issues were revealed, such as weak ties with the community, many people not receiving information about COVID-19 or life support, widespread impacts of job and income losses, and people living with a strong awareness of self-restraint to avoid discrimination. It also became clear that these hardships were not something that arose for the first time during COVID-19, but rather that the vulnerability of their existing livelihood infrastructure was amplified by COVID-19. |
